In 2021, a Pennsylvania man was nearly trapped in his Tesla Model S Plaid and burned alive. Luckily he got out before the car erupted into flames.

The special Plaid model, known for its unbelievable fast 0-60 in only 2.1 seconds and a top speed of 216 MPH, caught on fire while being driven in a small town near Philadelphia, on June 29, 2021.

The owner of the car was briefly trapped inside the burning vehicle when the electronic doors failed to open. The man had only owned the Tesla a few days. The driver of the car stated he smelled and saw smoke filling up the cabin, then flames and reacted almost immediately. Within moments of getting out of the car, it was engulfed in flames. The fire took more than 2 hours to extinguish.
