Now let’s carry on with the video. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, officially opened the Texas Gigafactory production plant. During the “Cyber Rodeo” presentation, Elon Musk confirmed that the new Tesla Gigafactory is the biggest factory in the world. To put it into context, the new Giga Texas factory is equivalent to the size of 15 city blocks; or as Elon Musk put it, the building is big enough to fit 194 billion hamsters. If you’re eagerly anticipating the Cybertruck and Tesla Semi, here is how the new Texas Gigafactory will make it a reality. The production of the Tesla Cybertruck was initially scheduled to begin in late 2021, while the Tesla Semi production was slated to start back in 2020. However, that never came to pass because Tesla didn’t have the capacity to produce the Cybertruck and Semi, while CNET reported its supply for the Model Y and Model 3 was still short of the demand. Now that the Texas Gigafactory has been launched, Tesla can solve that problem. In fact, Elon Musk recently announced that the Cybertruck, Semi, and Roadster will finally go into production next year at the Texas Gigafactory near Austin; all vehicles in the next line-up will include semi-autonomous driving. Learn more about the levels of driving automation if you’re not familiar. When the Cybertruck was first unveiled, Elon Musk promised that Tesla could deliver it to consumers at starting price of $39,900. However, Elon Musk later told the shareholders that the company is having a hard time trying to keep the price of Cybertruck affordable after adding new technology; this caused many people to speculate that the Cybertruck could be more expensive. The truth is, we won’t know the exact price of the Cybertruck until next year if it will be available for the consumers. On the bright side, the new Tesla Gigafactory in Texas could make it possible for the Cybertruck and Tesla Semi to be sold at competitive prices. This is because Tesla has accelerated its production of lithium-ion batteries at the Texas Gigafactory; this would help to reduce the cost of the Tesla Cybertruck and Tesla Semi. Besides that, Tesla’s stainless-steel supplier for the Cybertruck recently opened a steel mill in Sinton, Texas.
