Massive LNG Purification Stack No Longer Needed | SpaceX Boca Chica

Four Raptor 2 engines were delivered, the B7.1 test tank was listed off the test stand and rolled back to the Production Site, and the massive LNG purification stack was loaded onto a truck to depart Starbase.

  3. Those grid fins are super tough. Look how they turn it over around 11:43 that left divots in the asphalt for sure. They are about as careful as I am taking out cardboard to the recycling. The forces those fins are designed to handle in landings are a lot bigger than the force of falling on the ground I suppose. Poor forklift had trouble picking it up. Reminds me of the frog and shoebox scene in Family Guy.

  9. So , no rocket fuel (methane) production on site? If so tells me Elon doesn't plan on a lot of launches from Boca Chica? Or wells have a problem? Or he got a competitive bid from a supplier?

  18. LNG may be mostly methane, but has other hydrocarbons in it. That is why it needed to be purified, to be pure methane. Unless the engines are good with some impurities, which would lower the cost of the fuel.
